Materials

  • 1 heat-resistant vessel, such as a censer or earthenware dish
  • 1 small piece of charcoal
  • The dried skins of 1 garlic bulb and 1 onion
  • 1 coffee-spoon of used, dried coffee grounds
  • 3 dried bay leaves, chopped
  • 1 pinch of sugar

Method

  1. Light the charcoal inside the vessel until it forms glowing embers.
  2. In a separate container, combine the garlic and onion skins, dried coffee grounds, chopped bay leaves and sugar.
  3. Add the mixture little by little to the embers. Begin in the room farthest from the front door and move towards the exit.
  4. Keep the windows open throughout the process. At the entrance, let the charcoal go out on its own and discard the ashes in an outdoor rubbish bin.
